Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit. There are also related techniques such as local storage and session storage, which let the browser store information locally. For convenience, this policy refers to all of these as "cookies".

Cookies can be set by us (first-party) or by an external service that is active on our pages (third-party). They may disappear as soon as you close your browser (session cookies) or remain stored for a set period (persistent cookies).

We deliberately keep things to a minimum. By default this website sets no non-essential cookies at all: analytics cookies (Microsoft Clarity) and marketing cookies (OpenAI) only load after you opt in.

We only set non-essential cookies after you have given your consent via the cookie banner. If you refuse them, the website works exactly as well — you miss out on nothing.

We divide cookies into four categories:

• Necessary — needed for the website to work securely, such as the cookie that remembers your cookie preferences and the secure session for our administrators. No consent is required for these.
• Preferences — remembered choices that improve your experience, such as your language or the light/dark theme.
• Analytics — statistics and session recordings via Microsoft Clarity about how the website is used, so we can improve it. The data is pseudonymised and typed content is masked by default. Only with your consent.
• Marketing — conversion measurement for our ads in ChatGPT via the OpenAI pixel: if you arrived through such an ad and request a quote, we report that request to OpenAI (with your email address only in irreversibly hashed form). We do not use this to show you ads elsewhere. Only with your consent.

On your first visit, you choose via the cookie banner: accept everything, only necessary cookies, or your own selection per category. Both main choices are equally simple — refusing never takes more clicks than accepting.

Your choice is stored in a single first-party cookie and remains valid for a maximum of 12 months. If we materially change our use of cookies, we increase the consent version and ask you again.

You can adjust or withdraw your choice at any time via the "Cookie settings" button at the bottom of every page. Withdrawing your consent does not affect the lawfulness of what happened before.

You can also always delete or block stored cookies yourself via your browser settings:

When an external service is active on our pages with your consent (such as Microsoft Clarity for statistics and session recordings, or OpenAI for ad conversion measurement), that provider may set its own cookies. We do not have full control over their content and operation; please also consult the privacy and cookie policy of the provider concerned.
